Recently I was hired by a company (located in Pasadena, California) to design, engineer, plant and install some large vertical indoor planters in their office space. These planters had to be easily watered and installed in a no sunlight contact setting. Each one of them hung on the wall evenly spaced with some sort of pattern in the plants.
The plants that needed to occupy the planter had to be indoor plants which could thrive on the light in the room and the water they receive.
Here are some photos of the end result of what those planters look like:
Each planter has a refillable tank at the top (covered by the frame) and this connects into a drip line system to water the plants. There is a catch basin at the bottom of the planter to hold the excess water.
The frame on each planter is made out of reclaimed wood and outside measurements are 5′ x 6′. Insides of the planter are waterproofed.
The plants will grow over time and fill in all the dark spots. The pattern of the planters will maintain and provide beauty to this space.
